From the Chair…

Dear Merchant Sinfonians,

I hope you are as pleased as I am about the way in which last night’s concert came together, despite some tricky music and just a few rough edges!  It was wonderful for us all to be playing together again in the Grand Hall and I heard lots of comments afterwards from audience and professionals alike about how much they enjoyed it.  I know too that Louise was thrilled!  Well done too to our three ensembles who added so much to the programme and who played beautifully – no easy feat in an international concert hall!

I also think our friends and relations in the audience deserve a mention for coming out to support us on such a difficult day with the weather.

My thanks go to all my fellow Committee members for all their hard work in making the Concert and the whole Season possible.  Also to our many professional supporters and tutors (ably organised by Gillian Batters), but especially to Elldon and to Louise, without whose involvement and enthusiasm we would be struggling.

Finally, my best wishes, on behalf of the Committee, to you all for Christmas and the New Year.  We look forward to posting details on the website as soon as possible about next Season (probably sometime in the week beginning 20 January!  Louise has promised to be gentle to us in her choice of music for next term, but don’t forget the Wish List feature on the website if you have suggestions.

Many thanks again to everybody!

Tony
