Music project – volunteers wanted

Hi there Merchant Sinfonia,

I am working on a music project based in the Southside of Glasgow and seeking additional contributors who can play or are learning to play an orchestral instrument.

The material is original compositions for a demo album, and at present our small group consisting of guitars, cello, vocals, harmonica meets on a monthly basis at the Tramway – with access to the nearby Victoria Gardens Hall as a free acoustic rehearsal space. At some point, as and when we are ready, a live performance of the material is planned at Warren McIntyre’s ‘7 Songs Night’ at the Tron theatre.

I am searching for voluntary contribution on strings (inc. also cello), piano, brass, woodwind, percussion (inc. xylophone), and additional vocals. Although obviously unpaid, it would be an opportunity for classical or jazz minded musicians to work with a songwriter working within the vein of the Scottish independent music scene of Postcard records, Creation records, and Geographic; with influences ranging from Orange Juice, Lloyd Cole, Arcade Fire, The Velvet Underground and Arthur Lee.

The material has received good feedback to date and also airplay on 95fm radio to mark the launch of the documentary ‘Big Gold Dream: The story of Scotland’s post-punk music scene’.

So if you play an orchestral instrument or might also be interested in providing additional vocals then please either email me, contact me on my mobile or my facebook page, and come along and see if it’s your kind of thing.

Many thanks for your time

Duncan
