‘Variations’ Ullapool

‘Variations’ is a friendly and relaxed chamber music summer school that takes place in Ullapool each year, usually in the first week of August. It is run by the renowned Edinburgh Quartet (strings), with woodwind tutors Maximilliano Martin (principal clarinet, Scottish Chamber Orchestra) and Juliette Bausor (principal flute, Northern Sinfonia and London Mozart Players).

Several Merchant Sinfoniers are regular participants. If you would like more info, please speak to Pamela or Allison (cellos), or Alan (oboe).

And I will be going as part of a pre-formed wind quartet (flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon) – but a French horn would make it into a proper wind quintet!

Re Ullapool “Variations” – Lindsay (orchestra leader) and myself (cello) are both going to Ullapool for this chamber music course. We are keen to go as a pre-formed quartet but need a 2nd violin and viola! Anyone interested in considering joining us as a quartet? I’ve been on the course for the last few years and can recommend it as a fun, stress-free, enjoyable week – you make it what you want. Please speak to either of us on a Tuesday night if you’re interested. Thanks.
