Edinburgh Quartet concert

Since we are not rehearsing that night…

Edinburgh Quartet

Tuesday 17 March, 7.30pm, City Halls Recital Room, Glasgow

The First World War 1914-1918, a programme demonstrating the contrasting musical languages at the time of the Great War.

Stravinsky – Three Pieces for String Quartet
Elgar – String Quartet in E Minor Op 83
Bartók – String Quartet No 2 Op 17

plus selected War Poems read by Ron Butlin

The music will be complemented by specially chosen images projected onto screens behind the players.  Rather than portraying the War the pictures will relate to the music and will include “Little Tich” – the English music hall entertainer during the late 19th and early 20th centuries who inspired Stravinsky, as well as rare images from the Elgar birthplace museum.
