I’m putting on a performance of Vaughan Williams’ Concerto Grosso, which, as you know, is a pro-amateur scored work. So, aside from the professional lines, the amateur lines go no higher than 3rd position, and and the beginners’ lines only use open strings. The work lasts 17 minutes. If any of your string players would be interested in joining my orchestra, The Glasgow Barons, to perform this, the dates are: With amateurs alone: Sunday 8th September, 1pm – 4pm at Govan and Linthouse Parish Church, 796 Govan Road, Glasgow, G51 2YL Free parking behind the church via Napier Road With the professional orchestra: Thursday 12th September 4.30 pm, Pearce Institute, 860 Govan Road, G51 3UU Concert is at: Thursday 12th September 7.30 pm, Pearce Institute, 860 Govan Road, G51 3UU Tickets £5/£2 concessions Programme also includes: Elgar Introduction and Allegro for Strings, Thea Musgrave Night Windows with Scottish Opera first oboist, Amy Turner, Grace Williams Sea Sketches.
