Variations Chamber Music Course in Ullapool 29th July to 4th August 2017
Please contact Alan (oboe) or Allison (cello) if you are interested in joining a woodwind or string group.
This week long course is held in the Macphail Centre which is at the heart of Ullapool, a lively town and ferry port in north west Scotland. Morning sessions are tutored by members of the Edinburgh String Quartet and Maximiliano Martin and Rosie Staniforth, Principal wind players from the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, and in the afternoons there is time for more chamber music or exploring the local mountains and coastline.
Course participants also get free entry to two public concerts given by the Edinburgh Quartet and Wind tutors during the week.
A special feature of Variations are the ‘Apprentice’ sessions which give string players an opportunity to take the place of an Edinburgh Quartet member for a movement of a quartet or, for wind players, perform a movement from a wind and strings chamber work alongside the Quartet.
We particularly encourage pre-formed string groups and wind groups to apply but we also do our best to match up individuals to create groups.
