Rehearsals starting again in January 2022

After a lengthy lay-off because of Covid-19, the orchestra’s live rehearsals will start again on 18 January 2022. The City Halls aren’t available, but the committee has managed to arrange an alternative venue in the south side of Glasgow, near Pollok Park: the Fotheringay Centre, 57 Fotheringay Road, Glasgow G41 4NN. This is a former church now owned by Hutchesons’ Grammar School. It is close to three railway stations (Crossmyloof, Maxwell Park, Pollokshields West) and there is parking on streets nearby. The venue has been booked for our regular evening, Tuesday, and time, 19:30 to 21:00 (with 30 minutes before and after to allow setting up and clearing up), for 10 evenings, from 18 January to 29 March, with no rehearsal on 15 February.

The venue is large enough to accommodate around 50 players, with social distancing rules in place. In the first instance, places will be offered to players who were in the orchestra when rehearsals were suspended in spring 2020. These players will receive an email soon to ask if they would like to enrol for the spring 2022 session. If more people indicate a wish to enrol than the allowed maximum, we will organise a time-sharing scheme to limit the numbers on each evening.
